Dana Shugar
Dana Renee Shugar, 38, of West Kingston, R.I., formerly of Geneva, died Saturday, January 29, 2000, following a courageous, three-year battle with cancer.
She was born in Moses Lake, Washington, the daughter of Dr. Samuel R. and Shirley (Penhallick) Shugar. She grew up in Geneva and graduated in 1979 from Geneva Community High School.
Dana was a professor at the University of Rhode Island and the author of “Separation and Women’s Community.”
She is survived by her parents, Dr. Samuel R. and Shirley Shugar of Orland, Maine; her grandmother, Bernice Shugar; sisters, Tracy (Douglas) Richardson of Amboy, Kristen (Brian) Colby of Palatine; one nephew, Brian Colby II; and nieces Elizabeth Richardson and Melissa Colby.
